McGrath Lures Australia began business in 1984, when a super light minnow was designed to suit the fine-line threadline fishing for Trout and freshwater natives that are available within the Albury Wodonga region.
The brand was known as Bennett-McGrath in the early years of business and quickly became a regular in many anglers’ tackleboxes Australia wide.
The action is perhaps the best feature of the McGrath Lures, which have their own characteristic shimmy. The current design is the same as those produced when the business first started, proof of its success with lure fishermen.
Developed locally in Australia for trout and freshwater natives they have grown to be a popular lure throughout the country and overseas. They work equally as well on high country trout as they do on cod, yellowbelly, bream, bass and flathead in the estuaries, to salmon and tailor along the coast and most places in between.
McGrath Lures Australia is Australia’s foremost quality lure manufacturer where demand continues to grow. The lures have developed over the years into one of the strongest on the market and have a superb finish in a wide but not excessive range of colours and patterns to suit all types of fishing. There are now over 50 colours/patterns of the minnow style lures, including two, which use the latest paint technology, Illusion Pigments.
McGrath Lures Australia continues to be an Australian owned and run business based in the Albury Wodonga region. What sets McGrath Lures Australia apart from its competitors is our design that was built by fishermen for fishermen. This understanding of what it’s like to be a dedicated angler is what makes the difference when it comes to designing, testing and manufacturing lures. McGrath Lures Australia has began a program of re-vitalisation, innovation and expansion that will take our brand and lure manufacuting to a new level. The development of new and exciting lures is a priority which is reflective of our new spinnerbait and trolling attractor range which was released early in 2010. We have now also released our exciting new vibe lure range in fifteen great colours.
In December 2016 we released our new range of spinnerbaits called the McGrath Cod Cruncher Spinnerbaits and in late November 2018 we released our new surface lure called the McGrath Surface Walker.
There are a number of exciting new products in the early development and prototype stages which we hope to release to the market in the coming years. McGrath Lures Australia endeavors to research and develop quality lures for the future fisherman. McGrath Lures Australia is actively seeking to expand to the export markets.
